Product Description
Master Bond UV26DC is an ester acrylate-based system with a dual-cure mechanism, utilizing light for the initial cure and heat to complete the process in areas not accessible to light. Dual-cure systems are especially advantageous for rapidly fixturing parts in sections accessible to the UV light, while ensuring a complete cure in shadowed sections through heat activation. Accordingly, UV26DC will cross link rapidly upon exposure to UV light at 320-365 nm with 20-40 milliwatts/cm2 of energy. In the areas where the material is not exposed to the light, heat curing at 125°C for 2-3 hours is necessary to complete the cure. Adding more heat also enhances the physical properties, including glass transition temperature. Faster initial set times can be achieved by higher energy outputs of the UV light. UV26DC has outstanding dimensional stability and low shrinkage upon curing.
UV26DC bonds well to a wide variety of substrates including metals, glass, ceramics and most plastics. UV26DC has exceptional chemical resistance to many acids, bases, fuels and solvents. It is a superb electrical insulator, and is able to withstand rigorous thermal cycling. It also provides a high glass transition temperature (Tg), and is serviceable over the wide temperature range of -100°F to +400°F.
UV26DC can be used in high tech applications in the aerospace, optical and opto-electronics industries, among others.
